Life imitates Art

Driving along the coast road of Cantabria our journey twists and turns and swoops along the folded rock and hills. Occasionally we glimpse the mountains of the Picos in the distance. The ordinary houses that we pass share common features of design; balconies and overhanging upper floors predominate. The terracotta roof tiles are universal. I have no clue as to what they are like on the inside but the external (?superficial) features compete to outdo each other in colour or ornate tiled deigns. Each concrete and brick canvas becomes a support medium for artistic expression. How appropriate that our destination is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
